Happy Monday!

Hi All,

Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. Tod and I were hoping to escape the heat but we ended up smack dab in the middle of some extreme heat up North near the Trinity Alps area (we were all set to camp but not in 107* weather!)! Luckily we were able to find a cabin by the river where our 2 friends and our daughter & her boyfriend were able to enjoy the peace and quiet with us!

Sandia was out last week and they got us started working on the weeds out in the N & P beds! The bindweeds in the N beds was just taking over-it looked like a field of bindweed-and the crew came in to get it out!!! There were also some leaks in the N beds that they helped to get fixed. The P beds got some love as well and they were able to help with the first harvest of squash out of the P beds! A couple of the crew members helped Qaadira out with digging a hole for the Cherimoya plant to get that in the ground! A few of the gals lent their hands in getting the produce washed and packed for Open Heart Kitchen and St. Bart’s Church as well as getting some onions out of the shed with Brenda so we can continue sending them in! Go Team Go!

Since we are talking about the P beds-Friday crew showed up in that heat and got the P beds planted with more squash seeds and planted the rosemary plants on the South end of P08! There were some irrigation issues that also got fixed up out there as well as in the Orchard. Saturdays AM & PM shift continued planting the squash seeds in the P beds as well as weeded out more of the N beds! In between the seed plantings, and more irrigation fixes, they also transplanted the Chinese artichoke & dragonfruit into bed P02 and planted the Satsuma plum in the Orchard!

The smaller beds were all prepped last week! G beds were taken care of by Qaadira and the Tuesday crew and the ARB beds were finished by the Wednesday crew! G beds were planted with squash and ARB2 was planted with the last of the melon plants. ARB1 we are considering more squash but would love some input because right now the gopher is LOVING that bed and anything we put in it! If anyone has any ideas for that bed please let us know!

Lance brought in some coffee grounds and we ended up feeding it to the worms as well as some fruit from the Orchard that was past its prime! RB started using his Weed Annihilator in the P beds but found it was better to pull out the mustard plants rather than wacking them out! JT helped with irrigation issues within the M beds while we fixed a leak in the main valve for that section! The Orchard guys helped us continue work on the Berry Patch-weeding, fixing irrigation and got the raspberry plants in! KM & WZ got the rest of the tomato cages on the back beds and bed M03-I believe KB also helped them out! It was slim pickings on the cages so some of them were patchwork together! SV helped us to find all the seeds that ended up getting planted in the P beds!

Oh my gosh, so much to do in the garden and you are all there helping us to get it done-thank you so so much!

You all harvested out 425lbs of produce to the pantries!

Take care

Lori
