The garden is now closed for the holidays until January 6th 2026. Happy holidays all!

Happy Monday!

Hi All,

Tod and I got to visit with the kids up North this weekend. We all went go-cart racing, water bumper boat bumping and mini golfing-everyone else also went laser tagging each other but I sat out. IT WAS SUCH A BLAST!!! Hotter than whatever but we all enjoyed the time spent together:)

Laura brought her new students from Pleasanton out last week. We all toured the garden, the students got to ask questions and then we did a You Pick for them! They took a zucchini and made bread out of it back at school, yum! Laura has got a big crew this year and we are hoping to be able to get them out to the garden more.

We started the physical inventory on our seed stores. Almost all the plastic containers are done and the cabinet drawers were started this weekend. This will help us begetter able to plant out what we are going to plant for the garden as well as let us know what we need to purchase.

We also continued starting seeds for the Fall garden. This week we started beet seeds and Lacinato kale. We also needed to over seed some Portuguese kale seeds because the sprouts got eaten! All the new seeds are now covered in netting so that should hold back the eating. We started some radish seeds directly in the ground for beds M13 & M14. There are a few beds that are not doing all that great so we will be direct sowing into those for now.

The Opo Tunnel is now giving us opo! I think we had at least 10 fruits come off the beds that we were able to send in to the pantries. While it is giving us fruit CL is continuing to weave it through the trellis and SB is helping with cutting the leaves off the ground the next day! Team work is definitely needed for the tunnel. The opo is thriving and is hard to keep up with!

The N14 tomato cages were blown over by the wind last week. Kelly and Qaadira set up posts to get them off the ground and the next day Scott and 3 volunteers got the posts set in to the ground and the cages attached to them. Go team go!Everyone pitched in to continue tying back tomatoes and tomatillos. Weeding continued…everywhere, even the Big Hoop House. Out in P beds land the fence started going in on Saturday! Laundry got done for York to pair up this week. The tomato cages that were leftover were all moved back over to the tomato cage area.
We harvested 555.88# last week for our local pantries! We sent in more of our onions and garlic we had saved back. We’e been having to switch around the time to pack & deliver to One Nation Dream Makers the last month and it has been successful thanks to all our volunteers!

Thank you everyone for helping us out!

Take care

Lori
