Happy Monday!

Hi All,

What a fun shopping weekend! My bestie and I took our friend who is visiting from Hawaii out on one of adventurous thrifting expeditions and man did we have fun! Our Hawaiian friend does not dress up like she used to with living the Island Life but she found a couple of cute outfits for her trip to Las Vegas💃 Tod and I went on Sunday to shop at the Columbia employee store since he had s special invitation for his birthday! We had so much fun! All kinds of fun new clothes to play with now…and shoes!!!

Last week in the garden everyone got together to finish the fence surrounding the P beds! The finishing touches had all the crews working on covering the posts with nylon screen which was then shortened on one side, rolled into itself on the other with help from bender board/wooden boards and then both sides being buried in the dirt. Brenda and I were out in the field one day and she realized she did not see any ground squirrel butts running out of the P beds-the fences are working!

The P beds got lots of attention last week! There was weeding being done along the North West perimeter and the old ground squirrel holes were filled up with sand along the West outside perimeter. Along the outside North west perimeter there was also sheet mulching being done. Looking good out there in P Bed Land!

Out front by the arbor the Meader kiwi was planted and the Kodata fig was planted in the Orchard. The Front Apron also got sprayed down with vinegar again to kill off the weeds. I think it has been pretty successful so far. We had also sprayed the Produce Washing Area another day and that seemed to help as well.

There was more sheet mulching being done in other areas of the garden. The area next to the driveway by the Compost Area was covered over the weekend. Garden Wide there was sheet mulch filling going on to cover any areas that the cardboard started coming uncovered. There were also some ground squirrel holes filled in along the driveway!

Did I mention weeding? Cause you know that is always happening in the garden! The P beds, the N beds, basically anywhere you find weeds volunteers were doing their best to keep them at bay!!!

CL continued her weaving of the opo tunnel and took care of the bitter melon beds as well. I noticed today that the center of the tunnel is kinda caving in under the weight of the opos!!! Check it out while you are in the garden this week. Let’s see after we harvest for the pantries if that helps the tunnel to pop back up!

Over 950# of produce was harvested, washed and packed for delivery to our local food pantries!

Good job on you all for getting all this done! Thank you!!!

Take care

Lori
