Hi All,
Looks like you were busy in the garden August 11th through August 15th!
Beds K05-K07 was weeded for the Bermuda grass, the bolting celery was pulled & laid out in the bed to reseed itself and Dino lettuce was gleaned out. In Bed F01 you installed tomato cages to hold back the Husk Tomatoes now growing with the eggplants. The A beds had their strawberry baskets removed to use in other beds. For Beds M08, M13-M15 you got in there and pulled out the bindweed! Garden Wide Neem oil was applied to beds that have the spider mites.
The S & T beds received more irrigation lines. Beds S07-S08 are fully irrigated along with tree lines installed. We are still moving forward with installing the different color lines in the beds to continue testing to see which holds up better. We do realize the white line emitters are easier to see but the real test is for how well the hoses hold up and for how long. The R beds were planted up with squash, beans, pumpkins and Black Eyed Peas. Beds R01-R08 were also covered in stars to try and protect the line from the ground squirrels!
Irrometer work continued. Pipes were glued and junction boxes added. Ditches started getting filled with the area in front of bed AB10 being the last that needs to be filled. The work will continue with the project expanding out into the garden.
TE & ZI started work on the bed & tree labels. TE was able to print out the labels for us and ZI is helping him out with attaching the labels to the tiles. These will be the labels you see throughout the garden with the bed letter & number along with who is sponsoring the bed. Out in the Orchard the labels will be used for the tree names along with who is sponsoring the tree.
With this Happy Note I know for sure I missed out on who did what in the garden but please do know we appreciate each and everyone of you who show up and help this garden continue it’s work!
On top of all the chores getting completed you also harvested 293# of produce to send in to the local food pantries!!!
